Was Shot Down At Pearisburg.

W. H. Thomas Fatally Wounded in the Presence of His Wife.

Pocahontas, Va., July 25. – W. H. Thomas, at Pearisburg, Va., Saturday was walking with his wife, when he met two men who were swearing and using indecent language. Thomas tried to make them behave, but they did not propose to be dictated to, and Thomas had knocked one down when he was shot by the other. The ball entered above his heart. A bystander, named Davis, was also shot. Both men are in a critical condition and may die.

Thomas lived in Pocahontas for several years, having formerly resided in Pulaski, Va. He is a brother of Mayor J. F. Thomas, of Keystone, W. Va.
