A Beautiful Wedding.
On the evening of October 14 at 8 o’clock, in the Pearisburg Presbyterian church, Miss Jane Bane Snidow was united in marriage to Mr. Wharton O’Keffe, of Tazewell, in the presence of a large number of friends and relatives.
The church was beautifully decorated under the artistic management of Miss Nanola Gillespie, of Tazewell, and Mrs. J. H. Woodram, of Pearisburg. The background and arches were of rich dark green, brilliantly lighted with candles and in the foreground were many beautiful ferns and potted plants, white chrysanthemums formed a canopy under which the bride and groom stood, making a picture complete in loveliness.
Mrs. Bernard Mason, the accomplished musician, entered with Mr. Richie Peery, of Tazewell, who renderd in an exquisite manner “My Heart’s Long Dream of You.”
The ushers were: Felix O’Keeffe, of Bluefield, and Harry Bane, of Pulaski.
At the appointed hour the bridal party entered to the strains of Lohengrin’s wedding march. Miss Gillspie, the maid of honor, then the Page, Master James Miller, Jr., the bride on the arm of her brother Mr. W. B. Snidow, who gave her away, and the groom with his best man, Mr. James O’Keeffe, of Williamson. The ceremony was most impressively performed by Rev. Lloyd of the Lynchburg Diocese, as Mrs. Mason rendered with exquisite touch, Schubert’s serenade.
The bride handsomely gowned in white crepe de chine over taffeta, the simplicity of which only enhanced her charms and added loveliness to her many attractions.
She wore a veil of white tulle and carried a magnificent shower bouquet of orchids, shading from purist white to delicate purple.
The maid of honor, Miss Gillespie, was most becomingly gowned in a princess of yellow crepe de chine, and carried a handsome bouquet of yellow chrysanthemums.
The bride is a daughter of Mr. John D. Snidow, of Pearisburg, Va., and will be greatly missed in social circles, where her bright manner has made her a favorite. The groom is a son of the late Dr. Jas. O’Keeffe, of Tazewell, and a yard-master at Northfork. That he is greatly admired and respected by his business friends is evident from the handsome gift, a china closet containing a complete dinner set in Haviland china, presented by his Northfork friends.
