Mr. James D. Johnston, formerly a leading attorney at Pearisburg, Giles county, Va., died suddenly at his home in Roanoke, Va., on last Sunday morning. The deceased was born at Pearisburg, was 60 years old, and up to the time of his removal from that place, a few years ago, was one of the most influential and respected citizens of Giles county. He was a man of fine character and an excellent lawyer, He married a Miss Fowler, sister of Hon. I. C. Fowler. His wife and five children. three daughters and two sons, survive him.
