Mason-Angel Wedding

Married at Pearisburg

Miss Sarah Mason Becomes the Bride of C.S. Angel

Charles Sydnor Angel, mayor of the neighboring town of North Fork, and whose parents reside in this city, and Miss Sarah Mason, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D.W. Mason, of Pearisburg, were united in marriage yesterday. The nuptials were solemnized in the Presbyterian Church at 5 p.m, Rev. Hobson officiating.

The attendants were A.S. Booker, of this city, as best man, and Miss Ellen Mason, sister of the bride, maid of honor. They were preceded by the ushers – C.L. King, Joseph Hoge, James Angel and John E. French – two of whom marched up either aisle. The groomsmen and bridesmaids – J. E. Mintor with Miss Sue Reynolds, Clay Mason with Miss Laura Angel, Dr. C.A. Easley with Miss Baskerville, Charles Oliver Smith with Miss Helen Mason, Hoge Mason with Miss Alice Williams and C.W. Wright with Miss Elsie Pearson – followed the ushers and stood on either side of the chancel door.

As the bride entered one door of the church on the arm of her maid of honor, preceded by Misses Susie Easley and Mary Francis Mason, the overture changed to a wedding march, and simultaneously the groom with his best man entered the other door.

A vast concourse of people, friends and relatives of the contracting parties witnessed the ceremony, and the church was beautifully decorated. Mrs. Bernard Mason presided at the organ.

A reception was given to the attendants and friends of the groom at the residences of the brides parents on Tuesday night, at which the presents, which were many and beautiful, were shown. A delectable dinner was served and dancing was indulged in.

Mr. and Mrs. Angel left on No. 16 last night for a trip to Charleston, S.C., and other points, and after their return will make their home at North Nork [sic].
