Col. James Milton French died on Tuesday at his home in Pearisburg, Va. He was about seventy years old, and was born in Bland county, Va. He was a Colonel of the Sixty-third Regiment of Virginia Infantry in the Civil War, and was a very gallant and popular Confederate Soldier. At the battle of Chickamagua his regiment was the first to scale the Federal breastworks. Col. French was a brilliant speaker and quite a successful advocate, being especially successful as a criminal lawyer. In the social circle, he was very attractive and genial.
