McGINLEY/LAMBERT
I am descendant from Michael Andrew McGINLEY and Martha A. LAMBERT. Michael was born in Ireland on 25 March 1833, died in Narrows, Giles Co., Va. on 23 April 1906. He was in the Confederate Army 1862, was paroled 1865, 45th Va. Infantry Co. F. Martha was from Bland County, born 18 August 1841 and died 14 October 1898 in Narrows.
Would love to have any information on my family.

WILLIAMS/SCOTT
George Harrison WILLIAMS, born 19 August 1844 in Giles Co. Married Mary Elizabeth SCOTT 4 January 1866 in either Giles or Tazewell Co. He joined Co. H 36th VA Infantry April 1862 at Giles Court House.
1870 census shows him living in Mercer Co, WV with Mary and 1st son, Fernando. Also had children Sallie B.,Charles W., India Delores, Willie, and Ivra E.
George became a circuit riding preacher in WV. Lived in Sutton, Braxton Co., WV around 1900. He died 18 January 1921. Looking for parents of George and/or Mary.

James DUNFORD was born in Giles County about 1842. He married Phoebe BARNETT in Tazewell County in 1865. Looking for his father, James, who married Betsy HAGY. I can not find him after 1850. I know the Dunford families in Giles County connect to old John DUNFORD in Wythe County.

Also looking for parents/grandparents of Sarah WEBB born 20 March 1810 married Henly EPLING on 29 January 1831. Permission given in 1832 shows father as William WEBB–Trying to verify and also link to Samuel Blatchey WEBB born 17 December 1753 Whethersfield CT and was the aide-de-camp to General WASHINGTON.

Searching for information on the CARR family of Bland Co. (formerly Giles Co.) in Mechanicsburg area. Matilda CARR b. abt. 1837 in Giles Co. mother, Mary CARR. Matilda had the following children: Robert CARR b. abt. 1852; Mary CARR, b. abt. 1854; John E. CARR b. abt. 1857; William E. CARR b. 25 October 1858 married Nannie Harman; George CARR b. abt. 1860; and Isabel CARR b. abt. 1862. Matilda then married John C. PRESTON and had Samuel PRESTON.
I’d like to hear from any descendants or from anyone researching this family.

Robert Alexander PARIS, reportedly born 3 October 1750 in Botetourt County, Va. — what county was it then. He married Anne HOWE in 1772 and among their children was Richard George PARIS, born 25 July 1789 in NC. Robert Alexander’s brother may have been (Captain) George PARRIS, who married Eleanor HOWE, a sister of Anne HOWE. Richard George PARIS married Eve CONN (or THOMAS), died 31 March 1845 in Clinton County, IN — was father of Thomas Jefferson PARIS, b. 14 March 1811 in Indiana.
Looking for a variety of information, but specifically to link Thomas and Richard George.

Am looking for more information on the family/ancestors of Phoebe Jane KING, b. 18 April 1828 in Giles Co. According to her death certificate her father was Frank KING, born in Scotland (or England) and her mother was an unnamed French woman. She married a Thomas KIRK in Davies Co., Missouri, and died 5 June 1911 in Marcus, Stevens, Washington.

Trying to locate information on Alexander Hamilton TOLBERT b. circa 1806.
The family may have lived in Giles Co. Alexander was my ggg-grandfather. Alexander married Catherine SHEW. They had 9 children. One of those children was my gg-grandfather, Joel Rufus TOLBERT. Joel married Nannie Jane CALDWELL. Their chilren were William Hiley, Alonzo Posey, Ribble Ellic, Dainwood Carey, Mary Catherine, and Edward Garnett Tolbert. My great grandfather was Dainwood Carey TOLBERT. Dainwood married Mary WHITT. Their union produced Sidney Milton, Leoma, and George Edward TOLBERT. George TOLBERT, my grandfather, married Daisy Lillian HORTON. Their union produced David, Elizabeth, Nina, and William TOLBERT. I’m the son of William TOLBERT.
Would love to hear of any info anyone has on Alexander TOLBERT as I can not seem to trace the line prior to his birth.

CHANDLER/SMITH
I am at a deadend looking for Thompson CHANDLER, born 20 February 1811 and died 28 December 1877, and his wife Margaret SMITH, born 31 March 1809 and died 9 December 1882 in Monroe Co. WV. They were known to have been married in Giles Co. 4 August 1831 (bond dated 25 July 1831). They had 11 children, most born in Giles County. Thompson and his wife moved to what is Kanawha County, W. VA about 1868 or 69. It is not known for sure where he was born, but some records indicate it was in Giles Co.
Can anybody help me find who Thompson or Margaret’s parents were?
Does anyone in Giles Co. have records of any CHANDLER during the 1780-1840 era? If so please send me an e-mail message. Your information may help me connect to the many files that I have on CD-Roms from Family Tree Maker.
